Cleansing

Yesterday I took my nail polish off without reapplying a new color directly afterwards for the first time in a month and a half. It felt good. I was having a lot of fun with nail polish. I really liked the idea of people noticing that I had a different color on my nails every time I went to class (although I talked to a friend and she said she doesn't like changing the color of her nails for this very reason). But now having clean nails is incredibly appealing.

I've started wearing a watch daily in replacement of many bracelets. It's so liberating (from my phone and from relying on a not always present clock). The idea of having the time on your wrist really is ingenious (and a little obvious; so why has it taken me so long?).

Class registration is starting soon and its so wonderful to see people excited for new classes, especially at this time of year when people are often cursing the amount of work they have.

Tomorrow I'm meeting with a professor who will possibly be my major advisor.

I feel cleansed of complication and ready to start...

A Love Story

I first fell in love with Lanvin at his Spring 2008 show. I'm finding myself at a loss for words in describing why Alber Elbaz's work is so amazing to me. It's something about the timeless nature, the movement of the shapes that he has created with the gorgeous fabric. Looking back at that show that made me fall in love with his work gives me the same awestruck feeling. When I feel the superficiality of fashion, I come back to Lanvin to find the beauty in it. I was reminded of that this evening when I watched Garance Doré's video of his Spring 2011 show: another stunning achievement.

And, of course, the man himself, aside from the clothes, is pretty fabulous!

Dear Forever 21 Bag, I Don't Understand You

This Friday my friends and I took a trip to the mall near our school. I'm not a frequent Forever 21 goer, I'm not even going to start to tell you all my misgivings about shopping at fast fashion stores (especially Forever 21) ever since I did a project about sweat shops in sophomore year of high school. But when you are in such a small college town, those stores are among the few worth visiting every now and then. But back to my real point: they have these new bags which feature this circle suggesting recycling and reusing the bag they give you with your purchase! Except what does this mean, "AT A PARTICIPATING STORE"? Why wouldn't certain stores participate in reusing a bag?
